Getting to the Salt Lake City National Pigeon Show

As my only post showed I won Champion and Reserve champion at the first show of the year on the west coast. The next show was in Fresno where I excited to win four color classes and my second reserve champion with the bird that had won champion the show before. I was extremely happy with this show because for me to have two judges put my bird in the top two let me know I had a bird that needed to go to the National. Two weeks later I showed her again in southern California where she was in the final six birds with a judge from Oklahoma that had never seen my birds doing the judging. I new that I wanted to take her to the National but what I did not know was how I was going to afford doing it. I do have a page on a website http://slobberknockerlofts.com/ . So I started selling my extra pigeons as I did I arranged my flight and split a room with a buddy of mine. I was able with the help of my dad to sell enough birds to fly to Salt Lake and pay for my room and food while I was there and not take any money out of my pocket my birds paid for my trip. At this show my little cream hen faced its best competition from a nice cream hen brought in by Amir Turkanovic which ended up winning the class and ended up winning Champion of the show. Now I am thinking back and extremely happy that I have a wife that lets me fly off and go to shows. Now I am excited as I have mated all my birds up and just sold all of my extra hens and a group of a friend of mines cock birds to help me re-up my website and pay for rooms in Nevada for my daughters AAU Basketball tournaments That is another story for another night.
